Ayurveda … history

Ayurveda is a popular system of Indian traditional medicine and practiced in the rest of the world as a alternative medicine. According to the Indian oldest language, Sanskrit, the word Ayurveda consists of two words āyus, meaning ‘life’, and veda, meaning ’science’ or ‘related to knowledge’. It greatly evolved throughout its history, Ayurveda still remains an influential system of medicine or alternative medicine in south Asia.

In the Vedic period in India, the earliest literature of Ayurveda appeared with much popularity. The Charaka samhita and Sushruta samhita were influential works on traditional medicine or alternative medicine during this era. Ayurvedic practitioners also identified a number of medicinal preparations and surgical procedures for curing several diseases and ailments at its different stages.

According to the Indian heritage and science, “Ayurveda” is an Upaveda to the four main vedas. The famous and popular treaties of Ayurveda are Sushruta Samhita of Sage Sushruta, That deals with many Ayurvedic surgical procedures and Charaka Samhita by Sage Charaka, that details the prevention and treatment of several disease.

In the Ayurveda, the prevention of many types of disease has a prominent place in treatment, that includes restructuring a patient’s lifestyle to align with the course of nature and the four seasons to guarantee complete wellness and better living free from diseases and ailments.
